When Jesus left his disciples as He ascended into the heavens and vanished among the clouds, His last words were, “Go ye therefore and teach all nations,” Matthew 28:19.
That is a call for everyone, and I say, everyone that is a part of His church – it’s called Evangelism—spreading the good news around the globe by sharing the gospel.
Digital Evangelism – sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ online through the internet.
The good thing about it is that you do not need to be a preacher to partake in this online ministry.
You Cannot Enter Everyone’s Home.
Yes, it’s a given reality that no matter how much you want to share the gospel – you can’t enter everyone’s home.
Physically speaking, though.
Also, not everyone is interested in what you have to say, or offer makes entering a house rather a game of chance with no assurance of success unless you try.
Interestingly enough, the bible says in Luke 10:7 … “do not move around from house to house.”
Let that sink in for a while.
That is why you must learn more about digital Evangelism to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Not Everyone Is Interested – But You Can Reach Them Still
I do not mean to sound like a broken record, but this is a reality that everyone has to remember repeatedly.
Ecclesiastes 11:1 says, “Cast your bread upon waters…”
It simply means to share the good news to as many as you can and not to expect only from a single person. The more you spread the word of God, the higher your chances you have through the holy spirit of people engaging.
Your Timeline Is Not An Issue Anymore
In an ocean of 7 Billion Plus people, you are but one dot in a massive collection of live thinking organisms spread across the globe and separated by different time zones.
Meaning, if you aren’t doing digital Evangelism, then you can only reach one timeline and be limited by it. It is physically impossible.
Digital Evangelism breaks the barriers of timezone that separates many countries and individuals on this planet.
Someone from the Philippines can create an article like this one or a YouTube video containing the gospel. Yet, it can still be seen by anybody across the globe at their convenience.
Something only possible with digital Evangelism
Offline Ministry Has Its Limits
Church ministry before the age of the internet was all about sending missionaries across the globe and reaching people as much as we can.
It is still something that we do as a church, but it needs a program like an online ministry to get the gospel across the globe much faster.
Matthew 24:14 “And this gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, and then the end will come.
The bible clearly states that before the “end will come,” the gospel of the Kingdom needs to be spread across the entire globe.
Doing it physically without digital technologies and social media platforms, church members could only do so much with the offline ministry.
Everyone Is Online Most Of The Time These Days
We are spending a crazy amount of time online! Study shows that we Filipinos are spending on average 10 hours a day online.
That only shows how many opportunities we have to reach people today. A few years back, you need to set an appointment and wait for people to listen to you.
Today, with the help of modern technology, you can find them, email them anytime you need to, and the chances of them responding is high compared to how we usually connect to people.
Although the reality is that not everyone has internet access, but the vast majority of the billions of people on this planet do.
You Are Accessible 24/7
If you have an online asset for your digital ministries like a website, a blog, or a YouTube channel, chances are someone may find it even when you are fast asleep.
That’s the beauty of digital Evangelism because you post something online, and it stays available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
A few years back, when technology wasn’t this advance, you need to find a preacher to hear a sermon.
In a sense, your ministry becomes present everywhere as long as you have an internet connection.
You Can Use Plenty of Tools To Present The Gospel
There are plenty of tools available online for you to publish or start your digital Evangelism.
Social Media Platforms
These are websites that let you create social profiles like Facebook and Twitter. You can then post whatever you want to share relating to the gospel ministry.
Sermons or Music Videos
Today, it is now possible to produce a full concert at your home’s comfort that can also be made available for the world to see.
You can record yourself singing, giving a sermon, playing an instrument, or whatever idea you can think of.
You can also do downloadable audio for your sermons or church programs. Podcasts are used by plenty of marketers and business owners today, but hey, what’s stopping your ministry from doing the same?
Everyone Is At Home Due To Quarantine
We are currently under a global pandemic that forces everyone to stay at home for quarantine. Come to think of it; it also is why there is a rise in the use of the internet nowadays.
From marketing to product selling and even sharing the good news of the gospel is now done at our homes’ comfort.
You and I are all stuck at home due to quarantine, which is also an excellent opportunity to do digital Evangelism because we all know that people are using the internet more than ever.
The question is, how are you using your time at home right now during this quarantine?
